Reach out and touch!

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Mark 5:21-29

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.” (Mark 5:23)
“If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.” (Mark 5:28)

Twice in this reading we see people desperate to connect with God.
Jairus wanted Jesus to touch his daughter, the bleeding woman reached out to touch him.
Both expected that there was power in Jesus that would heal and help them.
“Reach out, reach out and touch someone” was a jingle from Bell telephone years ago.
Though we cannot ‘touch’ by phone, there is power in connecting with someone.
That connection is what we long for, what we need, for it brings life to us.
We were made to live with God in creation, to relate with and even touch the divine.
God wanted to walk in the garden with us, but we disconnected and hid from God.
In Jesus is life, and that life became flesh to reconnect with – touch – us (John 1:4,14).
Jesus is not physically with us, but we can reach out and touch him through prayer.
And he is reaching out to us by his Spirit and touching us with healing and life.
Talk to Jesus, feel his presence and power in your body loving, healing and freeing you.
Jesus is reaching out to you; are you reaching out to him?
PRAYER
Lord, sometimes when I pray I do feel you within me comforting, convicting and compelling me. I find renewal and strength – healing – in you. May we keep this connection strong!

  1. “put your hands on her” “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.” Oh the mighty touch of Jesus! Lord, help us to help others come to you and be touched by you – to receive the gift of the HS – for that is how you touch each believer today. Help me to touch/grace others with your love – that they too may feel something different – that they may be aroused and want to reach out for you – like Jairus, like this ill woman. Touch us so that we may touch! We bring healing through your touch!

  2. Both Jairus and the woman had faith in Jesus. Jesus was their answer. Believe.
    God can and does still heal today. Trust Him. He can heal our disease or take us out of our disease. Just continue to be faithful as He is faithful. Trust God. Believe. See what the Lord has done for me in past days. Count your many blessings and see what the Lord has done. He is faithful. Trust Him.

    1 When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed,
    When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
    Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
    And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

    Refrain:
    Count your blessings, name them one by one;
    Count your blessings, see what God hath done;
    Count your blessings, name them one by one;
    Count your many blessings, see what God hath done.

    2 Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
    Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
    Count your many blessings, ev’ry doubt will fly,
    And you will be singing as the days go by. [Refrain]
