True for me too!

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Mark 1:9-13

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.” (Mark 1:11)
As a follower of Jesus, this is something that God says to me too.
“To those who believed he gave the right to become children of God.” (John 1:12)
The Spirit of Jesus assures us we are God’s much loved children (Romans 8:16).
This is not because I am so good, but because God and Jesus are so good.
Jesus becomes a son of Adam to reclaim Adam’s position as God’s child (Luke 3:38).
Satan attacks Jesus, like he did Adam (and all of us), but this time Satan loses.
For the first time in history, a son of Adam behaves like a true son of God.
Now finally, the ‘very good’ kingdom God spoke of in Genesis 1:26-28 is fulfilled.
Through Jesus, a God-like human is once again in charge, and Satan is crushed.
By trusting in Jesus, the son that pleases God, we share in his identity.
Satan is beaten, Jesus is in charge, and we rule with him as his brothers and sisters.
Satan can’t beat us because he can’t beat Jesus… and we are with him!
God sees us with Jesus, our sin washed away and his ‘very goodness’ covering us.
God says to me and you, ‘you are my child whom I love, with you I am well pleased!’
PRAYER
Lord, thank You for beating sin and Satan for me and for restoring me to be God’s child. I am God’s precious, much loved child!

  1. Father, Son and Holy Spirit: “he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.” Jesus, the voice of the Father and the Dove of the HS! What a beautiful picture of our God! Immediately after that affirmation, Jesus is led by the Spirit, it says, into the wilderness. Jesus is alone, yet not alone – he is with the Spirit and angels attend to him. Jesus is fortified and Satan now tries his best to derail Jesus. Jesus knows that this ‘blessed’ time with Father and Spirit will be over for a time as he prepares to take on his mission. Father and Spirit come to him again on the mount of transfiguration – again it seems to me – to fortify Jesus – to help him in his resolve to carry out the mission of redeeming mankind. It reminds me of how important it is to serve with the HS’s guidance and blessing! It is he who enables me!

  2. Jesus was certainly Spirit led. God was with Him also when He went into the wilderness being tempted by Satan. The gift of His Spirit is also upon His people – you and me. I too need to be Spirit led. Emmanuel – God with us. That He promised. And as I live for Jesus, He continues to lead me and guide me, attending my way. I am never alone. He is always with me in my pilgrim’s progress. That’s comfort.

    Spirit of the Living God,
    Fall afresh on me,
    Spirit of the Living God,
    Fall afresh on me.
Break me, melt me, mold me, fill me.
    Spirit of the Living God,
    Fall afresh on me.
