Reflecting his ‘glow-ry’!

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Exodus 33-34

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“He was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the Lord.” (Exodus 34:29)
Moses had a special ‘face to face’ friendship with the Lord (33:11).
God’s goodness is revealed to Moses in a special way, so that Moses is radiant.
God’s grace, mercy, patience and compassion (33:19, 34:6-7) are the ‘glow-ry’ of God.
By being with the Lord, Moses himself becomes radiant with God’s goodness and glory.
Though we cannot actually see God face to face, God reveals his ‘glow-ry’ to us to.
We see it in Jesus, who glows with the grace, mercy, patience and compassion of God.
And those who are with Jesus also glow through their time with Jesus.
“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory.” (2 Corinthians 3:18)
It is not our brilliance that makes us radiant, but our being with Jesus (Acts 4:13).
Jesus is like the sun, we are like the moon; we do not produce light, we reflect it.
For this to happen we need to face Jesus, to experience his goodness ‘face to face’.
We need to be immersed in his love, joy and peace if we are to glow with it.
How do you spend time in the radiance of Jesus’s goodness, speaking with him ‘face to face’?
PRAYER
Lord, as I spend time with you, may the radiance of your goodness transform me so that other people may see your grace, mercy, patience and compassion in me!

  1. “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.”
Moses knew he could not lead the people on his own – he could see the failure. Moses needed God’s presence – and He was privileged to meet with God. God is Holy – all the precautions and all the dazzling light. Moses face was radiant every time He met with God – the people saw it and Moses had to ‘veil’ his face. Lord help me to hallow your name – to worship and honour you by what I do and say. May I be radiant too because I have been in your presence – through the HS!

  2. What distinguishes God’s people from all other people? His ‘SonShine’ within us that we share daily as we live for Jesus. As His radiance came upon Moses after he was in His presence, we are also in His presence and others need to see that we are Christians by our love in words and deeds. To do that, we need to be like Moses spending time talking to our God. Today is also His day and He still communes with His people if they but turn to Him. LightShine for Jesus.

This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine!
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine!
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine!
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!

    Additional stanzas:
Ev’rywhere I go, I’m gonna let it shine!
    Jesus gave it to me…
    Shine, shine, shine…
