Walking with the Lord!

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Genesis 5-6

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Enoch walked faithfully with God.” (Genesis 5:24)
These chapters describe the devolution of mankind from bad to worse.
There are many details I could wonder about, but I like this description of Enoch.
In the context of a world that is going from bad to worse, Enoch and Noah stood out.
The phrase “walked faithfully with God” captures how I want to live.
As bad as things get around me, am I keeping in step with God?
Am I seeking to live like God, to live a good and loving life like God?
Jesus is the best example I know of someone that walked faithfully with God.
And I sense the Spirit of Jesus calling me to join him in walking this way.
“Walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” (Galatians 5:16)
My job is not to complain about how others live, but to walk with God and Jesus myself.
To have a close personal walk with Jesus, and to help others have the same.
“He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way” (I Serve A Risen Saviour).
This is how I want my life to be described – a Jesus follower who walks with the Lord.
For this to happen, I have to take steps in his direction, and to follow his way!
PRAYER
Lord, our world is still corrupt. You are not calling me to focus on others and their missteps, but to focus on and keep in step with you. I want to walk faithfully with you!

  1. Right living in the face of corruption: “Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.” The sons of God mixed with all the rest and the distinction was gone. God started over with Noah, trying to establish right living but that also eventually was corrupted by sin. Time and time again God tried to find the way to establish a people that would be faithful to him – but in the end He sent Jesus – son of God and son of man – to bridge the gap and by whom we are saved and made righteous. That is the only and final answer. Even in my own life, I can’t be good enough on my own – but I can be with Jesus! Thank you Jesus -that I may be a ‘son of God’ – a child of God! Thank you for the gift of forgiveness for I know I don’t deserve it!

  2. My eyes need to focus on Jesus and not the pleasures of this world. I nee to be part of His people, a separate people serving Him and not the desires and the ways of those who live unto themselves. My ‘pilgrim’s progress’ needs to be in His ‘SonShine.’ The evil is great also in the world today and I need to focus that my world belongs to God and I need to serve Him all my days.

When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his Word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will
    he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.
