PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Psalm 20
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“Now this I know: The Lord gives victory to his anointed.” (Psalm 20:6)
To be anointed is to be chosen by God for a purpose (like a king or priest).
David expresses his confidence that since God put him there, God will help him.
Jesus was God’s promised anointed one (anointed = messiah in Hebrew, christ in Greek).
Not just with the symbol of oil, but with the Spirit of God.
Jesus did not trust in numbers or strength or armies or money… but in God.
Yet look at his life: from rejection to crucifixion to death.
It seems odd for people to make a condemned convict their ‘anointed hero’.
But in Jesus we know that the God gives victory to his anointed.
Yes Jesus died, but he also was raised up, and defeated Satan, sin, and death.
As Jesus followers, we are ‘anointed’ by the Spirit too, we are here for a purpose!
This helps us to trust God too, even when under attack, and to keep moving forward.
As bad a life gets, we know that God has and will set us free, and restore us.
This trust keeps us going, when everything seems to be working against us.
Now this I know, because I see Jesus, and I know I will rise up with him.
PRAYER
Lord, my trust is not in my plans or programs, my schemes or skills, or my health or wealth. All that can fail me, but you will not. I choose to trust in you, you will get me through this!
“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.” I’ve put my trust in technology and other people, doctors, programs and things – but I know and must sometimes relearn again that my trust is at risk unless I entrust these other things to the Lord first. When I look back I see how God has provided for me – I know He cares about me so I walk with Him through His presence – in confidence – that He will see me through. Thank you Lord for the opportunities you give me to serve – hep me to put my confidence in you, always!
Trust in the Lord. He is your health and salvation.
Stand upon His form foundation. He is my Rock, my Redeemer.
Call upon Him at all times. He will answer. He will see you/me through all situations.
May my plans be inline with His plans for me. I am His and He is mine and His banner over me is love.
This day and every day is His for He created them for me, His follower, to serve Him. He is the wind beneath my wings and gives me all that I need to live for Jesus.
