Am I embracing justice?

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Micah 3-4

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Should you not embrace justice, you who hate good and love evil.” (Micah 3:1-2)
Justice to me is about what is fair and right for everyone.
It is not limited to some, or held back from others, even our enemies.
Goodness is not just niceness, but God’s kind of goodness: compassion, mercy, kindness.
Evil is any cruel or loveless behaviour that damages, diminishes or defeats others.
Micah challenges the leaders for rejecting justice and goodness for evil.
Jesus comes as a new kind of leader, embracing justice and goodness, hating evil.
He is ushering in the day when swords and spears will no longer be needed.
No one will make the victims afraid in the kingdom restored by Jesus.
As a leader, this is the vision that should inspire and motivate me.
Am I embracing justice for all, including those outside of my tribe?
Am I showing goodness to all, even those that the church considers ‘sinners’?
Am I resisting every impulse to somehow diminish or defeat others?
I sense the Lord convicting me of not embracing justice and goodness enough…
As a leader claiming to follow Jesus, should I not embrace them more!
PRAYER
Lord, the call to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with you is growing, and I am sensing some very real implications. Help me to keep walking with you this way!

  1. Who knows the mind of the Lord and I will I discover it? “But they do not know the thoughts of the Lord;
    they do not understand his plan, that he has gathered them like sheaves to the threshing floor.” Yet the Lord has been very forthcoming – he gave his people the 10 commandments and he provided for them – and disciplined them – and now He has sent us Jesus – and we may know His mind more fully each day – walking with the HS inside us – as we live, as I go, as engage people and study the Bible and nature – I learn and see a provident God that is seeking for justice and offers mercy. Lord help me to be a better ambassador of your grace to others – you will sort it out and separate out the good from the bad – help me to be gracious and not judgmental while I live in this world.

  2. but we will walk in the name of the Lord
        our God for ever and ever.

    This text jumped out to me this morning – my daily walk. I need to walk in His ‘SonShine’ every day. People will know me by my walk because I will be an instruent of His peace.

    When We Walk With The Lord
    In The Light Of His Word,
    What A Glory He Sheds On Our Way!
    While We Do His Good Will,
    He Abides With Us Still,
    And With All Who Will Trust And Obey!

    Trust And Obey!
    For There’s No Other Way
    To Be Happy In Jesus,
    But To Trust And Obey.

    Not A Shadow Can Rise,
    Not A Cloud In The Skies,
    But His Smile Quickly Drives It Away;
    Not A Doubt Nor A Fear,
    Not A Sigh Nor A Tear,
    Can Abide While We Trust And Obey!

    Not A Burden We Bear,
    Not A Sorrow We Share,
    But Our Toil He Doth Richly Repay:
    Not A Grief Nor A Loss,
    Not A Frown Nor A Cross,
    But Is Blessed If We Trust And Obey!

    But We Never Can Prove
    The Delights Of His Love
    Until All On The Altar We Lay;
    For The Favour He Shows,
    And The Joy He Bestows,
    Are For Those Who Will Trust And Obey.

    Then In Fellowship Sweet
    We Will Sit At His Feet,
    Or We’ll Walk By His Side In The Way;
    What He Says We Will Do,
    Where He Sends We Will Go;
    Never Fear, Only Trust And Obey!
