PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: John 16:1-11
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me.” (John 16:3)
When the reality of God’s grace and love hit home, we are changed.
I don’t mean just hearing about them, but experiencing them.
To be desperate and broken, and then to experience radical goodness.
This is what Jesus means by ‘knowing’ the Father, and himself.
We think of knowing as something we do with the mind.
Something we hear about, or understanding – then we know it.
But I can know about something, and yet not know it at all.
The world is filled with many people who know about God and Jesus.
But sadly often many of us show that we don’t KNOW grace and love.
The experience of knowing Jesus’s grace and love is transforming, it has to be.
The Spirit of Jesus comes to us to reveal all that is unloving and ungracious.
When we “do such things” that are unlike Jesus, his Spirit will convict us.
Jesus says that we will know his disciple’s by their fruit.
What does the fruit of my life reveal about how I know Jesus… how he is changing me?
PRAYER
Lord, please help me to know you experientially, deeply… not just academically. May your Spirit convict, comfort and compel me with love, that I may reflect your love!
Jesus is my connection- restores me to right relationship with the creator – its like a picture of the days in the garden of Eden and we could walk with God. Jesus sent the HS so that “he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment” [knowledge of good and evil – and access to the tree of life]. It’s not about religion and religious practice – it’s about relationship – Jesus cleared the way by covering my sin, restores and judges me worthy to be me to be a child of God. HS help me to understand what’s wrong in our world and not to be enticed by complacency or false contentment in the ways of materialism and securities of this world. Help me to follow your leading each day!
Knowing – loving – doing. These three make a never ending circle. One needs all three – you can not have one without the other with true know, loving doing. All of this is a possibility because He has given us His Spirit. And having these three, others may see Christ Jesus living in me.
Make me a channel of your peace
Where there’s despair in life let me bring hope
Where there is darkness, only light
And where there’s sadness ever joy
