PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: John 9:35-41
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“Now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.” (John 9:41)
This blind man knows little, yet he knows that he knows little.
The religious leaders think they know better, and this makes them blind.
Even more, it makes them guilty of the sin of pride and folly.
Being blind itself is hard, but what if you deny you’re blind?
In both fields of science and religion, people claim to KNOW.
Each asks us to trust them, that their knowledge is unbiased.
But there is no unbiased knowledge, we all see through biased eyes.
I hold many things to be true, but I hold them very gently.
I am – or should be – always ready to adjust my views.
So where could I be blind, yet unaware of it?
Am I thinking or doing something harmful, yet thinking its OK?
The best position is always one of humility and openness to correction.
When we stand before Jesus, we should allow him to reveal our ignorance.
Only then can we experience the truth that will set us free (John 8:32).
PRAYER
Lord, the more I learn, the more I realize I do not know. Help me to stay humble, and open to learn. And show me where I am still blind.
“Are we blind too?” Yes.
Lord forgive me for all the times I claimed I could see even though I was blind. Help me focus what limited vision I have on You alone. I’ve opened myself up more to sin by thinking that I knew best how to conduct myself. But I sin without realizing I sin! My guilt comes from my pride.
I often get in the way of the Lord’s working in me! I guess I’m blind – sometimes deliberately so: “you claim you can see, your guilt remains”. Until I admit it, I’m guilty. HS keep working on me – cast the blindness of my own will away so that I may will to do the will of my heavenly Father. Lord Jesus, help me daily to see, I pray.
Jesus is my Light and salvation and it is only through Him I can truly see. Always His way is the right way and with my limited vision, I need His Light to guide me in all I do and say. He is my Pilot leading and guiding me always. It is only in His Light that I can truly see.
Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Thou art the Potter, I am the clay.
Mold me and make me after Thy will,
While I am waiting, yielded and still.
Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Search me and try me, Master, today!
Whiter than snow, Lord, wash me just now,
As in Thy presence humbly I bow.
Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Wounded and weary, help me, I pray!
Power, all power, surely is Thine!
Touch me and heal me, Savior divine.
Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Hold o’er my being absolute sway!
Fill with Thy Spirit till all shall see
Christ only, always, living in me.
