PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: John 6:41-51
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them.” (John 6:44)
God is actively seeking everyone (Acts 17:26-27).
We do not find God, God finds us; we do not discover life, we receive it.
Religion is our attempt to find God; Jesus is how God finds us.
Every religion is a response to the God that seeks us.
God is the initiator, God is the Mover, and we respond.
God is at work in all our lives, showing us how we need God’s help, God’s LIFE.
I grew up singing this hymn: ‘I sought the Lord, and afterward I knew…
He moved my soul to seek him, seeking me.’
When we find ourselves thinking of God, it’s because God is thinking of us.
Everything that happens is in some way God’s attempt to draw us back.
“So that we would seek him and reach out for him and find Him.” (Acts 17:27)
When we find ourselves reaching out to God, it is because God is reaching out to us.
The question is, when God comes knocking, will we open the door?
Or when God offers us the Bread of Life, will we accept it?
PRAYER
Lord, its not just up to me to find you. You are already drawing me back to God. Open my eyes to see you reaching for me. Open my heart to reach back for you!
Living water and the bread of life. Jesus offers his life for me. He is the way to the Father. Like he says here: “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.” That is challenging – as are all people drawn by the Father to Jesus? That is what it says here. But do all people take up the living water and eat the bread of life? Seems not. We don’t know who is saved and who is not. But Jesus is the advocate and he will be fair and merciful – that I trust. So it it is important for all to have the opportunity to hear about Jesus and come to understand the source of living water and the bread of life – to allow the spirit to draw them. Lord, draw me closer to you that I may live for you!
Remember the manna? God fed His people. Bread from heaven. All they had to do was receive the gift from the Lord.
All I have to do is to focus on Jesus, receive Him and pick up the life that I have in Him. It is He Who strengthens me each day anew. It is He Who gives me LIFE. It is He Who makes my living for Jesus a possibility for it is He Who gives LIFE to His people. God feds His people to give them strength to live for Him. He gives LIFE today and all of my tomorrows.
1. God gives His people strength.
If we believe in His way, He’s swift to repay
All those who bear the burden of the day
God gives His people strength.
2. God gives His people hope
If we but trust in His word, our prayers are always heard
He warmly welcomes anyone who’s erred.
God gives His people hope.
3. God gives His people love
If we but open wide our hearts, He’s sure to do His part
He’s always the first to make a start.
God gives His people love.
4. God gives His people peace.
When sorrow fills us to the brim, and courage grows dim
He lays to rest our restlessness in Him.
God gives His people peace.
