Jesus brings out the best in me!

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: John 2:1-12

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“The master of the banquet did not realize where it had come from.” (John 2:9)
Notice how Jesus does not draw attention to himself before the gathering.
Other than the servants, no one knew; and Jesus was good with this.
This makes me think how Jesus works in our lives today.
Jesus brings out “the best” (v.10) in us, which others notice.
If we believe in Jesus (v.11), we can do even greater things (John 14:12).
Jesus wants to produce good wine from you, so others may experience it.
Just being religious (like ceremonial water) is not enough, we need to be changed.
Jesus is restoring us to be like him, which is like God.
Jesus draws out love, joy, peace, etc. from us by his Spirit.
And though people may not realize this, they will taste it in us.
When we demonstrate God-like character, Jesus reveals his glory (v.11).
By ‘glory’ I understand the glowing greatness of who God is, and what God does.
We make God look good when we reflect God’s goodness in the world.
We are (or can be) God’s best wine, if we allow Jesus to change us.
PRAYER
Lord, help me not to be a religious vessel, but help me share your “best wine” with others. Your love, your joy, your peace…

  1. “…signs through which he revealed his glory;” I look for signs – for those ‘manna’ – what is it moments now. It is one way that I can appreciate Jesus walking with me. I know I need to be discerning – yet the signs are there. Of course, like the people in Jesus day – they liked to see signs – but even so people doubted and discredited Jesus. I must now either. I need to be more aware and cognizant of the signs and live a prayerful relationship that I may feel the blessing of walking with Jesus!

  2. Wine.
This reminds me of of the last supper. The wine is the blood of Christ which gives life and life eternal. Wine at the wedding brings joy and happiness and new life together in community. Togetherness. Jesus offers new life through His ‘wine'(blood). No greater love is there than this and I need to share that love.

Love lifted me! Love lifted me!
    When nothing else could help
    Love lifted me!

All my heart to Him I give, ever to Him I’ll cling
In His blessèd presence live, ever His praises sing,
Love so mighty and so true, merits my soul’s best songs,
Faithful, loving service too, to Him belongs.
