Room in me for Jesus?

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Luke 22:7-13

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?” (Luke 22:11)
How does Jesus know about this specific man and his guest room?
How would this man know ‘The Teacher’, did Jesus’s reputation precede him?
It is also interesting that this is not a request for a room, but an expectation.
It is possible that Jesus knew this man, and that this had been prearranged.
All this is interesting, but how does it relate to me?
Passover is a salvation celebration, how God rescues his family from bondage in Egypt.
Passover was celebrated by families in their homes, under the blood of the lamb.
Jesus sees his disciples as his family; he is the lamb that rescues us from bondage.
He wants to eat with me, and me with him, so that I can experience salvation in him?
But where is the guest room in my life, and is there room for Jesus in it?
Is my heart and life so cluttered that there is no room… am I pre-occupied?
Even if the room is messy, let him it; he will help us clean it up!
“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” (Revelation 3:20)
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, I welcome you into my heart, but it is a cluttered space. Please help me clean it up, so that it is a fitting room to welcome you in.

  1. I remember experiencing ‘valet’ service once – I arrive and my suitcases are taken out of the trunk and I hand over the keys and just follow the guy to the front desk where someone else grabs my keys and I just follow to my room opened and my suitcase placed on the rack. I wasn’t used to that kind of attention – I was used to tipping either. Here Jesus prepares the way for his disciples to prepare for their last meal together which starts out as Passover – but finishes as the Holy Supper. Jesus is my valet – he leads the way – he is preparing a place for me. “Lead me, guide me along the way…” Preparations are being made – Lord make me ready to follow you all the way!

  2. Passover.
The angel of death passed over the people who did what the Lord asked. Jesus became my Passover Lamb Who takes away my sins. But as the people then obeyed His word so I too need to obey His Word. He continues to show the way if we/I but follow His Word. Do this and live. That is what the Master said.

    [Chorus:]
Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path
Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path

When I feel afraid, think I’ve lost my way
Still You’re there right beside me
Nothing will I fear as long as you are near
Please be near me to the end

    [Chorus]

I will not forget your love for me
And yet my heart forever is wandering
Jesus be my guide, hold me to Your side
And I will love You to the end

    [Chorus]

Nothing will I fear as long as you are near
Please be near me to the end

    [Chorus]

And a light unto my path
You’re the light unto my path
