PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Luke 18:35-43
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“When all the people saw it, they also praised God.” (Luke 18:43)
This blind man wasn’t the only one whose eyes were opened.
The same group that tried to silence the blind man now see his healing.
They did not understand – could not see – that this was what Jesus was about.
Even after all this time with Jesus, they were still blind to who Jesus was.
The blind man on the other hand could see Jesus better than they did.
Is it possible that I am blind to who Jesus is – with him, yet not seeing him?
I may spend time thinking and talking about Jesus, but do I reflect him?
I talk about Jesus all the time, but not because I think I see him better.
My suspicious is that I don’t see him, and that I don’t get him.
By immersing myself in Jesus, and not giving up, I feel like this blind man.
Over time I feel I am slowly seeing him better, and yet have so much more to see.
“Lord, I want to see you!” (Luke 18:41)…, this is what I am eagerly pursuing.
My other prayer is to not hinder people, but help them see Jesus better.
I don’t want to be like this rebuking crowd rebukes, making it harder for others to see.
PRAYER
Lord, I want to see you, and I want others to see you too. Open our eyes so that we can praise God too!
The blind man called Jesus – the son of David – whereas, most people knew Jesus as the rabbi from Nazareth, Galilee. Is this an acknowledgement that the blind man believed that Jesus was the Messiah – I think so – anyway Jesus could see genuine faith and without much fuss – commands that he be healed. Believing is everything – is life giving. Help me Lord to believe and overcome in vestiges of unbelief! Open my eyes of faith more and more!
While walking and teaching to the followers, Jesus heard the blind man. Jesus showed His love and grace by His words and deeds. By my words and deeds I too need to show the love of Christ. As the blind man saw Jesus, I too need to see Him each day as He continues to reveal Himself to all who earnestly seek Him. Open my eyes Lord.
Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
I want to see You
I want to see You
To see You high and lifted up
Shinin’ in the light of Your glory
Pour out Your power and love
As we sing holy, holy, holy
