Dec 10 — Jeremiah 8:4-17

SCRIPTURE: Jeremiah 8:4-17

OBSERVATION/APPLICATION:
I find this passage very applicable to me. I hear God saying to me, why do you keep on returning to your selfish, sinful ways? There are specific sins that the Lord is bringing to my mind. I can say that its not that serious, that everything is OK (‘peace, peace when there is no peace’), but the reality is that my sinful, selfish heart is affecting all those around me, as well as limiting the work that God can do through me. If I accept that the Lord is speaking to ME through this passage, then I need to hear the seriousness of my sin, and repent.

I cannot have wisdom unless I accept Your message, and live it (v.9). All my knowledge of the Bible means nothing unless I allow it to change me.

PRAYER:
Lord, I confess that I have grown comfortable in my lukewarmness. I have allowed my passion for You, for truth, and for the needs of the lost around me, to leak. Forgive me and help me. Grant me the passion of Jeremiah! Amen.

  1. Live and do this. That’s what the Master said. Yet the people went their own way doing what was right in their own eyes. They no longer knew the Word of the Lord , repenting of their evil ways. They encouraged one another to do evil.

However the Lord will visit His people and take from them what He has given them. He will visit His people and eventually His own will see their sin. They will flee to the fortified cities and not escape God’s discipline. But will they see the hand of God? Will they die in their own sins?

Help me this day to see You. Thank You for the reason of the reason of Christ Jesus. Thank You that You still speak to us. May I hear Your voice so that I do not walk in my own light but Your Light.

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Thou art the Potter, I am the clay.
Mold me and make me after Thy will,
While I am waiting, yielded and still.
