June 27 — Psalm 134

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 134

OBSERVATION:
The songs of ascents have followed the pilgrims journey up the hills of Jerusalem, into the courts of the temple, and now into the sanctuary, where the temple servants do their work. This psalm encourages the “leaders” and “workers” in the Lord’s service to keep up their good work. Despite the challenges that they face, persevere in leading the people in the praise and service of the Lord. And he finishes with a blessing from the Lord. This is a great psalm for encouraging church leaders and workers.

APPLICATION:
So many people devote themselves to the work of the Lord, day and night, spending long hours – often unnoticed or unappreciated – for the Lord’s purpose. I need to encourage all the workers, whether paid or unpaid, to thank them for their great work, and to pray God’s blessing over them. Though I may not always feel appreciated, do I appreciate others, especially since most of them are volunteers? How do I show my appreciation. Maybe I need to do more!

PRAYER:
Lord, forgive me for taking the many great servants here at Hope for granted. Help me to appreciate them, and to show my appreciation. May they experience Your blessing, the smile on Your face beaming over them as they serve You. Amen.
