Who do I REALLY say he is?

Posted on April 8, 2021April 7, 2021 by Norm

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Luke 9:18-20

What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?

“Who do the crowds say I am?” (Luke 9:18)
It seems that everyone had something to say about Jesus.
All of the suggested identities are positive – a former prophet re-sent from God.
Not everyone had positive thoughts about Jesus.
Some saw him as a deceiver, traitor, heretic, rebel, madman, fool?
People today still have opinions, similar or different to these.
And then, like Peter, there are those who believe that Jesus is God’s Messiah.
Jesus followers believe that somehow Jesus is God with us, coming to help us!
Jesus wants us to have an opinion; He asks us too “Who do YOU say I am?” (Luke 9:20)
Apparently our answer to this question is very important… who do YOU say he is?
Take some time today to write down your thoughts about Jesus.
To quote C.S.Lewis, is he a lunatic, a liar or the Lord?
Don’t just give the answers that other people have given you (what you were taught).
How do you see Jesus, how do you experience Jesus, how do you respond to Jesus?
Your life may reveal a different answer than your lips… who do you REALLY say he is?
PRAYER
Lord, I have a head full of theology about you. But how I live and how I relate to you says a whole lot more about who I really say you are. May my head and my life match the truth of who you are.

What would people today answer to the question about who Jesus is? A good man who lived long ago – a mythical figure? How many would say Saviour? Even now at Easter time? Does what other people say Jesus is matter to me? I know it matters to them but do I believe Jesus because he’s popular? Does that sway me? Or when believing in Jesus is or going to church is ridiculed – do I back away? Jesus said “I am the way to the Father” – the only way. Even among many Christian’s that exclusive claim is rejected. Yet Jesus is the Messiah – He is my Saviour – He is the way to the Father whatever any others may say! I strive to make Jesus Lord of my life – I want to follow him. HS help and guide me to do so!

Jesus is my Lord and Saviour the Son of God and my SonShine. In Him I have life and life eternal. He is my all in all and others need to see Him living in me by my words and deeds.

    My Jesus, My Saviour,
Lord there is no one like you,
All of my days, I want to praise
The wonders of Your mighty love.

    My comfort, my shelter,
    Tower of refuge and strength
Let every breath, all that I am
    Never cease to worship You.

Shout to the Lord, all the earth let us sing,
Power and majesty, praise to the King!
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar,
At the sound of your name!
I sing for joy at the work of your hands,
Forever I’ll love you, forever I’ll stand
Nothing compares to the promise I have in You.
