PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Mark 5:21-29
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“Put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.” (Mark 5:23)
These two believe that just a touch from Jesus, and they will be healed.
Somehow – they don’t know how – God’s healing LIFE flows through Jesus.
I have found this idea, the image of Jesus’ touch, helpful in my own prayers.
When praying for the sick, I imagine Jesus’ hand touching and healing them.
I don’t have the gift of healing, but I do believe healing can flow through me.
Through laying on of hands, I am a link between God and those needing healing.
Like the clothes of Jesus, not Jesus but near Jesus, I can convey God’s healing LIFE.
Even crowds pressing in on Jesus were blessed by God’s Spirit through Him.
The key is proximity: being WITH Jesus is needed for His power through us.
“They saw the courage of Peter and John and realized they were unschooled, ordinary men. They were astonished and took note that they had been with Jesus.” (Acts 4:13)
As Jesus followers, don’t underestimate what God in Jesus can do through us!
We can prayerfully spread the LIFE of Jesus with everyone that connects with us!
“Put Your hands on (this person) so that they will be healed and live.” (Mark 5:23)
PRAYER
Lord, strengthen my faith that I may believe that ‘just a touch with You’ is all that it takes to spread Your healing LIFE and love.
Oh the touch of Jesus! People wanted Jesus to touch them because they believed he could heal them. Jesus isn’t physically with us to touch us now – but he sent the gift of his Spirit to live within us. His spirit is doing its work of sanctifying me – making me whole – drawer nearer and developing me to be like Jesus. I’ve got a ways to go – but the Spirit continues to work in me! Thank you Jesus for your healing touch on me!
Hope.
This is what drove them to Jesus.
Confident expectation.
Through our trials we can still be a witness and God’s power is revealed.
Both approached Jesus with their needs,
I too need to take it all to the Lord in prayer.
1
What a Friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!
2
Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
3
Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.
