PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Psalm 15
What do you sense the Lord saying to you in this passage?
“Whoever does these things will never be shaken.” (Psalm 15:5)
This psalm is about the joy of being perfect… that leaves me out!
If you want a solid, stable, God-blessed life, be perfect!
According to David, these are the only people that get to enjoy God’s presence.
Well this Psalm is wrong on two counts, even though its ultimately right.
True, living outside of God’s righteous will does ruin life and joy.
But Jesus lived perfectly, and He was definitely shaken – He died!
And even though I’m not perfect, I do enjoy God’s presence.
The reason Jesus suffered, even though perfect, was because He stood up to sin.
Yet ultimately God restored Him BECAUSE He lived the righteous life.
Death had no hold on Him, because death is the curse for sin, and He didn’t sin.
By refusing sin, resisting Satan and overcoming death, Jesus has restored God’s kingdom.
Anyone who stands with Jesus, despite being imperfect, is now forgiven and welcome.
Jesus is perfect for us, and God accepts us as perfect in Him.
That leaves me in… and you too!!!
PRAYER
Lord, I am far from perfect. You are perfect, and because of You, I am forgiven and welcome and restored and loved. I have been made righteous by trusting in You… and I do!
I know my walk in life is not blameless – I confess. I know I need Jesus – the righteous one who dwells in God’s sacred tent. Jesus in the blameless one – he bore the sentence for sin – for me. I believe therefore I know that I too may be washed clean and blameless. Then I may enter into God’s sacred tent! I may experience God’s HS presence every day!
This Psalm tells me of a righteous person. Blameless. And that person can only be Christ.
But He died so that I can live and also be that person in Him.
Because He lives I too can live.
A Jesus follower – that’s what I am – only by His power.
In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid Ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand
