Which tree am I leaning towards?

THE STORY OF JESUS: Proverbs 3
“Wisdom is a tree of life to those who take hold of her;
Those who hold her fast will be blessed.” (Proverbs 3:18)

God places two choices before humans, symbolized by the two trees.
A choice that leads to life, and a choice that leads to death.
Everyday we face the same choice that Adam and Eve faced, in many ways.
Will I wisely choose God’s way, or will I rely on my own understanding?
Deep down, if we really think things through, we do know right from wrong.
But the problem is we lean towards the second tree, the forbidden tree.
Can you think of a forbidden thought pattern or behaviour you lean towards?
Every day we make choices that lead us toward, or away from, God’s blessing.
Jesus comes to rescue us from Satan’s lies, and open the way to the tree of life.
He spoke of two ways – the broad and narrow way (Matthew 7:13-14).
The Spirit of Jesus is constantly urging us to choose the way of wisdom.
What is a specific sin or struggle you need to make the right choice in?
See your choices as two trees – life and death – which do you want?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, I do not normally think of my daily choices in such significant terms. Help me to see that all my daily choices do lead me closer – or further – from the blessing you want to give me.
