The pursuit of wisdom!

THE STORY OF JESUS: Proverbs 2
“If you cry aloud for understanding… you will find the knowledge of God” (Proverbs 2:3,5)
According to this passage, wisdom needs to be actively and aggressively pursued.
It doesn’t just fall in our lap, we need to struggle and ‘cry out’ to find it.
God wants us to want it first; if we do, He will gladly give it to us.
The challenge in this passage for me is whether I am doing this.
How much time do I spend wrestling through the tough questions of life.
There are many issues that our world is muddling through that require wisdom.
One big issue for me surrounds homelessness, poverty, addiction, mental illness.
What are the root causes, the real problems, and what is my responsibility in it?
The other big issue is related to the many sex and gender controversies.
More than ever I feel I need the ‘wisdom of Solomon’ to find my way through the mess.
I take comfort in the promise here that God will help me, if I pursue wisdom.
I need to remain humble, teachable, open to rebuke and correction, open to God.
This is our calling as Jesus followers, “to seek and you will find!” (Matthew 7:7)
Wherever this path leads, my hope is in Jesus’s rightness… not mine.
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, I desperately need wisdom for this journey… and grace. Keep me humble, keep me sincere, and keep me close to Your heart and Your will.
