To seek the Lord with intensity

THE STORY OF JESUS: Acts 12:25-13:3
“While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said…” (Acts 13:2)
I can’t recall ever worshiping and fasting as a church like this.
Fasting has not been a part of our church tradition (I’ve fasted personally).
I like how it’s not about fasting, but about worshiping and praying, with fasting.
To fast is to seek the Lord with intensity, focused devotion.
I have personally had times when I worshiped and prayed with intensity.
But I have also entered a time of intense seeking with my church.
It was a time of reviewing and revisioning our sense of purpose and calling.
We were hoping for the Spirit of Jesus to speak to us, to guide us.
Maybe the Spirit of Jesus was nudging us to worship and pray and fast.
Is now a time for intensely seeking God with worship, prayer and fasting?
As we begin a new stage in our church’s life, are we seriously seeking?
Are we relying on our wisdom and understanding to fulfill God’s mission?
Like Paul and Barnabas, we are set apart to fulfill God’s mission.
But are we seeking the Lord to through worship and fasting to know what it is?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, help us not to do things as a church our own way; help us as leaders and members to seek Your direction and will with intensity, with worship and fasting.
