The leadership challenge!

THE STORY OF JESUS: Micah 1-3
“Listen, you leaders of Jacob. Should you not embrace justice.” (Micah 3:1)
Things go really bad for the people whose leaders go corrupt.
Justice refers to what is good, right and fair.
When leaders focus instead on what is easy, or in their own interest…
Or when leaders make their own agenda their priority rather than God’s!
I’ve worked with leadership teams for years… I have not seen corruption.
But I have seen leaders preferring their own comfort or priorities.
Doing what it takes to keep the peace, rather than pursuing God’s purpose.
Or half-hearted leadership, where we show up, but do not step up.
These words of Micah remind us as leaders how serious our job is.
As go the leaders, so goes the church (or business, or nation).
We need to lead the way as Jesus followers, reflecting His character.
We need to put God’s kingdom and justice first, not our own kingdoms.
If you are a leader in the church, how serious are you taking your role?
Are you embracing what is good, right and fair, or what is easy and comfortable?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, once we realize how serious leadership is, we will see how desperately we need Your grace and help. Make me a leader like You!

  1. The Lord my King needs to go before me and lead me in the way that I should go.
    All those who lead need to embrace justice, hate evil, love good, and not insist upon their own way. Some even distort the truth with a lie.
    As we saw with the children of Israel, as the leader goes, so go the people. Look at the days of Judges – the leaders and the people did what was right in their own eyes.
    This is my Father’s world – His Kingdom and He is King. I need to follow His way. That is what the Lord requires of me.
    Love Him.
    Follow Him.
    Do good in all areas of life.
    Living for Jesus.
    And what does the Lord God require of me but to love mercy . . . .

    Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
    Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
    Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
    Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

    Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
    I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
    Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
    Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.
