River of life inside!

THE STORY OF JESUS: Ezekiel 46-48
“Deep enough to swim in — a river that no one could cross.” (Ezekiel 47:5)
Moses receives plans for the tabernacle while in the desert.
Ezekiel receives plans for the rebuilt temple while in exile.
John receives visions of the new creation while in exile (Revelation 21-22).
In each case, streams of water factor as part of the story.
Water from the rock (Exodus 17:6), water from the temple (Ezekiel 47:1).
And “the river of the water of life” in the new creation (Revelation 22:1-2).
The message is the same: God is designing a new place to live among us.
From Him “living water” will restore the dead, the dying, the desperate.
What began as a trickle is soon be deep enough to swim in, too much to cross!
“Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them. By this he meant the Spirit.” (John 7:38-39)
One day LIFE will be deep enough to swim in, more than we can handle!
Jesus is the key to experiencing this deep, refreshing LIFE on the inside.
I’ve tasted it, yet I still long for more… do you?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, I love the imagery of life-giving, refreshing streams. But I long for more of the experience. Please give me more of Your life-giving, refreshing Spirit!

  1. This is what the Sovereign Lord says – Do this and live.
God gives His people specific instructions – boundaries – their inheritance.
And in giving those boundaries – their land – their properties – the Lord was really their portion for the name of the city was the Lord is there. The temple was n the centre. And I too need the Lord in the centre of my daily living. My world belongs to God and He takes care of that world and me. I need to be rooted in Him as the tree planted near the waters – the life giving stream which also ‘waters and refreshes me.’
Lead me and guide me each day anew by Your Spirit Lord.

    Spirit of the living God,
    Fall afresh on me.
Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me.
    Spirit of the living God,
    Fall afresh on me.
