‘Restore them too, Lord!’

THE STORY OF JESUS: Lamentations 4-5
“Restore us to yourself, Lord, that we may return.” (Lamentations 5:21)
Personally I have not experienced this kind of horrible suffering.
But this kind of suffering is happening all over the world, all the time.
We should not just feel bad when we suffer, we should feel bad for all misery.
For every abuse victim, for every starving or dying person.
Salvation is not just about me being forgiven and assured of eternal life.
If we have a trace of humanity in us, we will agonize for others too.
Our hearts will break for the things that break Your heart, Lord.
We will desperately long for Your kingdom, so that everyone can know it.
Our world needs to be restored, and we need God’s help to restore it.
We read Lamentations not to feel good, but to be challenged and motivated.
As Jesus-followers, our hearts are triggered by misery and suffering.
Like Jesus, we see the sheep wandering without a shepherd, and offer ourselves.
If the only reason I am christian is for myself, I’ve missed the point.
May my heart be activated to seek and pursue restoration from God for all!!!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, if I am only concerned about my own salvation, then I have yet to be saved from the selfishness of sin. Break my heart for the things that break Yours!

  1. They can stay here no longer – are words that echo in my mind of the displaced people forced to flee their homes and nations refuse to help them. No room at the inn.
I need to pray for the leaders of the people to practice love and mercy and justice. In doing this the leaders and people not only think of themselves but also of others. Love your neighbour.
    My God reigns.
    He is in control.
    May the peoples serve Him.
May all the peoples praise Him.
May His Light continue to lead us and give us strength to be instruments of His peace.
    Pray for the people.

Now is the season for healing
Deeply we need to see, God’s mercy revealing
Where we have fallen from his ways
For we know he gives hope to the humble,
gives light in the darkness, and grace when we stumble
Let us, call on His name, together, knowing he will say

    If my people pray
and reach for me with hearts, that are broken
I will not forget what I’ve spoken
    Come and seek my grace
Heaven will rain, rivers of my grace, overflowing
Night and day my ears will be open…
    If my people pray

Now is the day to awaken, to pray with conviction,
to the souls of the nation
(So) let us, call on His name
    Whose faithful, promise still remain

    If my people pray
and reach for me with hearts, that are broken
I will not forget what I’ve spoken (oo)
Come and seek my grace (seek ye and..)
Heaven will reign, rivers of my grace, overflowing
Night and day my ears will be open…
    If my people pray

Let us not grow weary as we wait for the day
When the Light turns our night into morning
All we need is to call your name
As we lift our hearts to Heaven (yeah)
    Knowing You will say…

    If my people pray
and reach for me with hearts, that are broken
I will not forget what I’ve spoken (oo)
Come and seek my grace (seek ye and…)
Heaven will reign, rivers of my grace, overflowing
Night and day my ears will be open…
    If my people pray(oo)
    If my people pray
