Depends what you believe!

THE STORY OF JESUS: Mark 9:14-24
“Everything is possible for one who believes.” (Mark 9:23)
Is this ACTUALLY true, can believing make the impossible possible?
It depends in part on who or what we believe in.
If I believe in something weak, I cannot expect strong results.
If I believe in something evil, I cannot expect good results.
But if we put our hope in a good, all powerful God, there are new possibilities.
It is not ‘belief’ that makes things possible, but ‘belief in God!’
Evil spirits have power in our lives because we believe the thoughts they produce.
Negative, doubtful, hopeless, selfish, jealous, angry thoughts or feelings…
We give more credit to negativity or despair, than to the God of hope.
Every situation, crisis, or challenge has good possibility, when God is involved.
Jesus is not urging this man to believe in belief, but to believe in Him, and God.
Stop letting your fears convince you that they are bigger, better than God.
Trust God, and tell your fears how big your God is.
“I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24)
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, no matter how big or scary or hopeless my situation may be, You are always bigger. I choose to trust You, help me do this more and more.

  1. ‘Everything is possible for one who believes.’

    Belief. Faith. Prayer.
    These goes together.
All too often we/I am a ‘doubting Thomas’. All too often I work outside of God’s realm putting my trust in other things. I must need to take all things to God in prayer – talk and walk with my risen Saviour – putting my small hand in His big hand – that’s comfort. That’s healing. Expecting great things from my Lord and my God. Take it all to Him in prayer.
    Let go
    and
let God do His mighty work.

What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
    What a privilege to carry
    Everything to God in prayer!
Oh, what peace we often forfeit,
Oh, what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
    Everything to God in prayer!

    Have we trials and temptations?
    Is there trouble anywhere?
    We should never be discouraged—
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful,
Who will all our sorrows share?
    Jesus knows our every weakness;
Take it to the Lord in prayer.

    Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
    Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.

    Blessed Savior, Thou hast promised
    Thou wilt all our burdens bear;
May we ever, Lord, be bringing
All to Thee in earnest prayer.
    Soon in glory bright, unclouded,
There will be no need for prayer—
    Rapture, praise, and endless worship
Will be our sweet portion there.
