Let Him shelter you!

THE STORY OF JESUS: Psalm 57
“I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings.” (Psalm 57:1)
You can read the story behind this Psalm in 1 Samuel 24.
David is afraid, he is in danger, he is under pressure, he is under attack…
His response is to pray, to reach out to God for hope and help.
He is hiding himself in God when life gets overwhelming.
David is confident God will rescue him, so he pushes himself to pray and hope.
“Awake, my soul. Awake, harp and lyre…” (v.8), in other words, start praying.
When I am afraid, I will praise You; when I am overwhelmed I will remember You.
When pressured, I will rest in You; when under attack, I will take refuge in You.
And if I am slow to do this, I will yell to myself, ‘Wake up, soul, start singing!’
This is the spiritual warfare that lies beneath our daily battles and challenges.
Many people fall and fail because they do not hide themselves in the Lord.
Jesus speaks of wanting to gather His followers like a hen gathers her chicks.
But sadly, the chicks were not willing (Matthew 23:27).
As Jesus followers, Jesus is with us and wants to help us… but will we let Him?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, today I will challenge my soul to WAKE UP to You, to seek You and rest in You and love You and hope in You. I cannot survive the battle for today, unless I hide myself in You!

  1. God id my Refuge and Song.
    Remember Daniel in the lions’ den?
    At all times, take it to the Lord in prayer.
    Stay in tune with God. He is my Help and Salvation.
    See His presence at all times.
    Praise Him at all times.
    Talk with God at all times.
    That’s comfort.
    That’s peace.
    That’s hope.
    That’s life – walking and talking with the Lord.

    1
    When we walk with the Lord
    In the light of His Word,
    What a glory He sheds on our way;
    While we do His good will,
    He abides with us still,
    And with all who will trust and obey.
    Trust and obey,
    For there’s no other way
    To be happy in Jesus,
    But to trust and obey.
    2
    Not a shadow can rise,
    Not a cloud in the skies,
    But His smile quickly drives it away;
    Not a doubt or a fear,
    Not a sigh or a tear,
    Can abide while we trust and obey.
    3
    Not a burden we bear,
    Not a sorrow we share,
    But our toil He doth richly repay;
    Not a grief or a loss,
    Not a frown or a cross,
    But is blest if we trust and obey.
    4
    But we never can prove
    The delights of His love,
    Until all on the altar we lay;
    For the favor He shows,
    And the joy He bestows,
    Are for them who will trust and obey.
    5
    Then in fellowship sweet
    We will sit at His feet,
    Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
    What He says we will do;
    Where He sends, we will go,
    Never fear, only trust and obey.
