THE STORY OF JESUS: Matthew 28:5-10
“He is not here; he has risen.” (Matthew 28:6)
I’ve been with people when they died; I know the grief and sorrow of death.
But imagine what it must have felt like to hear an angel say, ‘He is not here, He has risen!’
These women must have been shaking with fear and joy, doubt and hope.
Is it any wonder that they worshipped Him when they saw Him!!!!
When someone dies, they leave us.
Some say they just end, they become dust, they are no more.
But I believe, as the angel says, ‘they are not hear, they are risen!’
To quote the Apostles’ Creed, ‘I believe in the resurrection of the dead.’
Or to quote Martha, “I know (the dead) will rise again… at the last day.” (John 11:24)
Because of Jesus, death has been beaten, and eternal life is restored.
But what will we rise to, and how will we respond to the LIFE that is offered.
One day, people will say of me, “He is not here; he has risen.”
“The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26)
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, one day I will die and rise with You. How my heart yearns within me!
I am reminded of Thomas.
Doubting Thomas?
Doubting women?
Belief only through seeing?
It is interesting that the women were at the tomb and not the men. They followed Jesus everywhere – also to the grave.
And yet when they came the stone was rolled away. A God thing.
Sometimes it is said that people are stone cold. The stone needs to be rolled away from their hearts. A God thing.
The women saw Him.
He would see His disciples in Galilee.
And we too, I too will see Him one day for
He is
The resurrection
and
The Life
just as He had promised.
As they experienced Him and saw Him
Being SpiritLead
I can experience Him and ‘see’ His presence
but one day
it will be full revelation.
I too will fully see Him as He promised.
Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
I want to see You
I want to see You
Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
I want to see You
I want to see You
To see You high and lifted up
Shinin’ in the light of Your glory
Pour out Your power and love
As we sing holy, holy, holy
