Face time with God!

THE STORY OF JESUS: Deuteronomy 31-34
“Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face.” (Deuteronomy 34:10)
Moses was very close to God, though even he was sinful, just like Israel.
No human can claim to be without sin before God… but God still wants to be “face to face” with us.
God created us all to be “face to face”, that is to be in close relationship with God.
Unfortunately, we are stubborn and hard-hearted; prone to wander, prone to leave the God we love.
Moses stands out as an encouragement to all sinners that we can be “face to face” with God.
But it is not by keeping the law; it is by humbly receiving God’s grace and truth.
“For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” (John 1:17)
When we stand “face to face” with Jesus, we stand “face to face” with God.
For Jesus, “who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.” (John 1:18)
Living in fellowship with Jesus, relying on the help of His Spirit, is our way to know God.
Jesus is the final ‘Joshua’, “filled with the Spirit of wisdom” (34:9), Who leads us into God’s blessing.
Keeping the Law (trying to be good ourselves) will not bring us “face to face” with God.
God graciously accepts us through Jesus, and invites us to live our lives “face to face” with Him.
Jesus said, “If you really know me, you will know my Father as well.” (John 14:7)
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, thank You for showing me God’s heart, that He is my Father Who loves me and wants the best for me. Thank You for making it possible for ‘stubborn, sinful me’ to enjoy face time with God!

  1. God is our ever present Help. He goes before us and will never leave or forsake us. Just do His Word. Trust and obey. Walk in His Way. Serve Him only. God Himself is with us as He was with His people then.
As the song showed the faithfulness of God to His people, so I too need to look how the Lord God has led me and guided me all the days of my life. How faithful was I? Lead me and guide me, Lord.
His Word is my life blood. They are my life – living for Jesus. He is my Shield and Helper.
He is my strength and power. As Moses walked with God and knew Him face to face, so I too need to walk with God for He is my power and Enabler and LifeGiver making me GodStrong.

When we walk with the Lord in the light of his Word
What a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will, he abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
