Tuning in to God’s Voice!

THE STORY OF JESUS: Psalm 19
“The heavens declare the glory of God!” (Psalm 119:1)
I recall living in PEI, 20 minutes from the beaches along the north shore.
When I wanted to be alone with God, I would walk along the shore.
The vast sky and ocean, waves crashing on the rocks, and the smell of salt.
Every wave seemed to sing this refrain, ‘Majesty, worship His majesty!’
Often I would sing it out loud to the rhythm of the waves.
I believe raw creation draws us into God’s living room, and He shows up in a deep way.
“The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.” (Psalm 119:7)
When I read the bible WITH God, that is, in a conversational way, I hear God speak as well.
Looking into a passage, spending time allowing its words to touch my soul.
Many times the Lord has warned me, and helped me to discern good from bad directions.
I am this simple guy (v.7), that needs he Voice of God to refresh me, warn me, help me.
Sometimes I get bogged down in the details and forget to listen for God.
Or I get so busy, I don’t have time to be outside, or to read scripture with God.
Here I am reminded of what I know by experience: “in keeping them there is great reward!” (v.11)
I’m missing out when I don’t allow God’s majesty in nature to speak to me.
I’m the loser when I don’t allow God’s Spirit in scripture to teach, rebuke, correct and train me.
“Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.” (v.2)
But am I enjoying the benefit and the blessing of God’s Voice in my life?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, You are my Rock and my Redeemer. Thank You for the times when creation and scripture have blessed me. Forgive me for not taking advantage of these gifts. I want to hear Your voice!

  1. “Listen and understand. What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.”

Where do I see God? At the end of the day, where did I see God?
Did I walk in His presence? Did I hold His hand?
This is His world. He is in charge. He upholds His creation. Our world, my world belongs to God.
    I see Him everywhere.
    In the morning sun.
    In the changing seasons.
In His promises by signs like the rainbow.
His voice is everywhere and I must follow that voice saying Follow me.
And I am a living witness by what I say and do of that Voice – of my Redeemer and King.
Each day anew I need to praise Him.
Spirit of the living God – work dwell within me and make me a instrument of Your peace.

    Spirit of the living God
    Fall fresh on me
    Spirit of the living God
    Fall fresh on me

Break me, melt me, mold me fill me
    Spirit of the living God
    Fall fresh on me
