God’s ‘just enough’ buffet!

“Everyone had gathered just as much as they needed.” (Exodus 16:18)
Jesus taught us to pray “Give us today our daily bread.” (Matthew 6:11)
He urges us not to worry about tomorrow (Matthew 6:34), but to trust Him for today.
The Israelites learned through 40 years in the desert that God would provide enough.
Water, meat, bread, protection from their enemies… they could trust Him.
And yet we hear them grumbling… and we are usually the same.
Paul learned over time that he could trust God to care for him, no matter what.
“I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:11-13)
This is something we can all learn, and experience.
Instead of thinking about what you don’t have, look at what you do have.
Maybe its not the Mandarin ‘all-you-can-eat’ buffet, but His ‘just enough’ manna is something.
Makes me think of Jesus when He has 5 loaves and 2 fish to feed a great crowd.
“Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves.” (Matthew 14:19)
He didn’t complain about what He didn’t have; He gave thanks for what He did have.
And God made it enough for everyone!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, my focus is often on what is lacking, instead of what You have provided. Help me instead to be thankful, and to trust You for my daily needs.

  1. How often do we also say or ask the question WHY? When all is good we do not complain or grumble nor do we see it as God’s blessings. But when we have trials, we grumble and complain and question the Lord God. The Lord God is my God at all times and He is with me in all times. I need to learn to see and sense His presence always – when all goes well or when there are challenges in life. He is with me always. I need to trust Him always. He continues to lead me and guide me in my life’s journey and I must trust and obey in all things seeing His leading by His Spirit. Each day anew I need to count my blessing, one by one, for He has done good things in my life – daily. Open my eyes Lord so I can see what you are doing. Help me daily to seek Your will.

    To guide me over my darkest hour
    For just open my eyes that I may see

    I am lost if you take your hand from me
    I am blind without try light to see
