THE STORY OF JESUS: Genesis 1:1-3:24
“God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.” (Genesis 1:31)
These chapters outline the God-source and the God-design behind all that is.
There is much in creation that is ‘very good’, and yet…
God gave us the job of naming what we saw (Genesis 2:19-20), the task of science.
Satan tricked Adam and Eve to name the forbidden fruit “good, pleasing and desirable” (Genesis 3:6).
It is how we misname God, life, creation, etc. that gets us into trouble.
“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.” (Isaiah 5:20)
The result of our failure and folly is “knowing good and evil.” (Genesis 3:22)
We not only see what is very good, we see what is very evil, and it has ruined life in God’s world.
Adam (humanity) messed up the world, Adam (humanity) needs to make it “very good” again.
Jesus is the Adam (Son/Image-bearer of God) to do this (Luke 3:23,38).
“The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit.” (1 Corinthians 15:45)
We need Jesus to make our world ‘very good’ again.
Will you help Him clean up this mess we made?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, thank You for succeeding where I have failed. You have resisted Satan, refused sin, obey God, fulfilled righteousness, reversed the curse, restored life. Hallelujah, what a Saviour!
