For almost 10 years I have been offering my daily reflections on a bible reading on this blog. I have had many visitors through this time, and a few regulars. Recently I shifted away from a “through the year” schedule to focus on a chapter each week in conjunction with my Sunday messages at Crossroads Church. This was helpful to some extent for me, but I did not sense a lot of engagement from the congregation. That’s fine, but it is leading me to reconsider who I am primarily doing this for.
I’ve decided to go back to my three year “Through the Bible with Jesus” reading schedule which I used from 2013-2015. This reading schedule assigns a Psalm for every Sunday, a Gospel reading for Monday through Thursday, and a larger portion from the rest of the Bible for Friday/Saturday. The benefit of this pattern for me is that Jesus remains the main focus for the week. So starting this Sunday (June 26, 2016), I am beginning another three year journey with Jesus through the Bible. You are welcome to join me, but even if no one else does, I’m thankful for how it will bless me.
