THE STORY OF JESUS: Romans 8:31-39
“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” (Romans 8:37)
As a kid I remember watching the cartoon, ‘He-Man, Master of the Universe’.
Super strong (ripped with muscles), super good, and always brave.
Now THAT is a conqueror!
Its cool that Paul calls us MORE than conquerors, but its hard to feel like one.
When stuff happens, to bravely stand against them, confident of my rightness and strength.
Like a comic book: POW!!! SMACK!!! BAM!!! SPLAT!!! defeating those big mean joy killers.
Really, its the confidence I lack.
I don’t have to be ripped with muscles, just backed by muscles.
“Through Him who loved us!”
Though I’m a scrawny wimp by myself, I stand with the real ‘Master of the Universe’.
If He is for us, how can He be against us!
Paul wants to build our confidence, to strengthen our resolve.
To go into my day with the determination NOT to give the enemy the victory.
No matter what tactics he uses, I WILL NOT SURRENDER.
Jesus is with me, He will get me through this.
In Christ, we – not Satan – are the rightful ‘masters of the universe’ (Genesis 1:26-28).
“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7)
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, I am more than a conqueror, I am a child of God. Today is a new day, and I will stand with You… to the very end!
