The triumph of hope!

THE STORY OF JESUS: Romans 7:21-25
“Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!” (Romans 7:25)
I can relate both to Paul’s struggle, and to his hope.
The tension between the hope and the reality.
Between the things I want to do, and the things I do (or don’t do).
It’s like I swallowed the little angel and demon on my shoulders.
Does everyone feel this tension, this conflict within?
In my pastoral conversations with people, I hear that they do too.
As brave or boastful as we sound, we all seem to struggle on the inside.
Thankfully, for me the hope is stronger than than the conflict.
I’ll be honest, there are brief moments of wanting to quit.
But again and again and am reminded of God and Jesus and hope.
Jesus whispers courage, forgiveness, confidence and victory into my soul.
He is the ultimate encourager, holding out before me His best for me.
Yes, I am presently trapped within this “body of death” (v.24).
But Jesus has guaranteed my victory over sin and death.
He has done if FOR me, and He will accomplish it in me.
I’m not there yet, but one day I will be, therefore I have hope.
“Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!” (Romans 7:25)
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, thank You for giving me hope. The struggle is real, but it is not final. Thank You that Your love and hope, not despair, keep me going everyday!
