THE STORY OF JESUS: Acts 1:9-11
“Why do you stand here looking into the sky?” (Acts 1:11)
Jesus calls His disciples to go, the Spirit equips us to witness.
And we just stand there, looking up into the sky.
We spend so much time ‘looking up’ in worship, yet so little time looking out.
“I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” (John 4:35)
If we spent as much time in witness as we did in worship, we would be fine.
The same lips that sing before God ‘I Love To Tell The Story’ are silent before others.
The disciples were shocked, and afraid, by what they had seen.
Instead of inspiring them, Jesus’ absence made them fearful and stuck.
Granted, they had not yet received the Spirit, so they were not ready yet.
But what is our excuse, we have been equipped with the Spirit, we can rely on His help!
I hear the Lord challenging me to move beyond prayer and worship into prayer and witness.
Don’t be afraid of what to say, or how it will sound, the Spirit will help.
The Spirit is already at work ahead of us, preparing the way, setting up our audience.
Yesterday I took a step, I went to a neighbor to initiate a conversation.
I expected hesitation, but I was well received… he was very gracious to me!
Stop staring up for Jesus, start looking out for Jesus!
We will discover Him there waiting for us, ready to work with us!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, ignite humble boldness and love in my heart to get me going. Instead of looking up for You, help me to look out… that is where I will find You.
