HIStory is my story!

THE STORY OF JESUS: Esther 9:29-32
“Esther’s decree confirmed these regulations about Purim, and it was written down in the records.” (Esther 9:32)
Esther’s words and actions are recorded so people will not forget.
Their purpose is not just record-keeping, but for encouragement and hope.
“For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.” (Romans 15:4)
And it was not just the human authors who gave us these words of hope, but their divine Author.
“Prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” (2 Peter 1:21)
We can be encouraged by reading these words, we can be inspired when things seem stacked against us.
When God seems missing (as in the book of Esther), He is still there, working for our good.
At thew moment it may not seem like it, but He will not forsake His people, or His purpose.
One day, when we look back on it all, we will see how things work out for good.
But for now we walk in the dark, and we are encouraged by whispers in the night.
Whispers of hope, quiet testimonies that show how God has helped, and will help.
I find it helpful to pray through scripture, and let the inspired stories speak to me.
I put myself in the stories, and read the stories into my life.
Details differ, but the deep truths are the same.
Make the story of Purim your story, how fate (the lots, or ‘pur’) do not determine your future.
Your life, your future, is in the hands of the Author of His-Story, and ours.
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, You have guaranteed the happy ending. My story may have twists and turns, and dark chapters, but Your book reminds me that we win in the end!
