Heirs with you of the gracious gift of life

THE STORY OF JESUS: Esther 8:1-2
“King Xerxes gave Queen Esther the estate of Haman, the enemy of the Jews.” (Esther 8:1)
God created this world as a gift for all to share and enjoy.
Sin has turned this world into a greedy, grabbing conflict.
There is plenty to go around for everyone, yet so many suffer in poverty.
The back story of history, the story of Jesus, is how God is putting this right.
“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.” (Matthew 5:5)
The Jews were considered low life, a slave class, easy targets for persecution.
And yet here we see God working His great reversal, His lifting of the meek.
This receiving of Haman’s estate is symbolic of what God is doing for all people.
The arrogant and greedy will lose what they have, the meek will inherit it.
God’s dream, through Jesus, is to restore us as heirs of the gift of life and creation.
“You are no longer a slave but God’s child; since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.” (Galatians 4:7)
We are God’s children, we are His heirs, we wear His signet ring!
Esther shared her reward with her family, and this is what we should do as well.
Not just our immediate family, but with all God’s children, especially the poor.
“Freely you have received; freely give.” (Matthew 10:8)
May God multiply His blessing through us, so that all can freely enjoy His blessing.
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, You are in the process of redistributing the wealth of creation, to share it with everyone freely and graciously. Teach me, as God’s child, that sharing is a good thing!
