Jesus is Lord!

THE STORY OF JESUS: Mark 2:1-12
“But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” (Mark 2:10)
“So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.” (Mark 2:28)

In Daniel 7, the coming Messiah is described as a “Son of Man”:
“In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed. (Daniel 7:13-14)
Notice the words, “He was given authority…”
In this passage we see that Jesus is claiming to be the promised Messiah, the Human Rescuer who would restore creation.
Jesus is the one that humanity has been waiting for, and now He is here, we can celebrate.
He declares forgiveness and welcome to sinners, He release captives from sickness, religious duty and legalism.
Because of Jesus, everything changes… or at least ought to change.
We are in the middle of an election, and each leader is promising to make Canada a better place.
I will not speak to the promises or politics -there’s plenty of strong opinions out there already.
But from where I sit, what our world needs is not another political leader.
What our world needs is for people to vote for Jesus, with their lives!
Like Him, to be agents of forgiveness, reconciliation, grace, freedom, justice, honesty, humility.
If churches and christians would stop playing politics, and start imitating Jesus, things would change, for the better.
No one can stop you from voting Jesus like this; everyone has the right to cast this ballot!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, You are a leader worth voting for. Your not just kissing babies for votes, You love all people, and have come to set us all free. May I exercise my human right of voting for You in my actions, so that the whole world will win!

  1. Observations/Application
    Who to follow?
    I just finished reading 2 Chronicles 30-32 where Hezekiah had the people return to worship the Lord. Both He and the people went God’s way and they prospered.
    Today we follow whom?
    The people are fickle and follow whomever they please. Who promises the most? God is not in the picture. All for oneself. All for me. Selfies. Selfishness over oneanothering.
    In all areas of life, it is not about me but about Him. This is true where ever I am – whether school or church or daily living or in my daily relationship or in my travels or in my . . .
    Why am I here?
    To serve Him. A citizen of the Kingdom and that must affect all I do and say.
    Living for Jesus.
    My King and Lord!

    1
    Living for Jesus a life that is true,
    Striving to please Him in all that I do;
    Yielding allegiance, glad-hearted and free,
    This is the pathway of blessing for me.

    O Jesus, Lord and Savior,
    I give myself to Thee,
    For Thou, in Thy [redemption],*
    Didst give Thyself for me;
    I own no other Master,
    My heart shall be Thy throne,
    My life I give, henceforth to live,
    O Christ, for Thee alone.
    2
    Living for Jesus who died in my place,
    Bearing on Calv’ry my sin and disgrace;
    Such love constrains me to answer His call,
    Follow His leading and give Him my all.
    3
    Living for Jesus wherever I am,
    Doing each duty in His holy name;
    Willing to suffer affliction and loss,
    Deeming each trial a part of my cross.
    4
    Living for Jesus through earth’s little while,
    My dearest treasure, the light of His smile;
    Seeking the lost ones He died to redeem,
    Bringing the weary to find rest in Him.
