Show me, Lord

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 139
“You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.” (Psalm 139:1)
How does this make you feel?
He knows EVERYTHING about me, totally, completely, everywhere, always.
This kind of exposure can be frightening… talk about a breach of privacy!
We may try to hide, to cover up our badness with goodness, but God isn’t fooled.
We can point the finger at others, how they are worse (vv.19-22), but that won’t work.
If God were a monster, this kind of privacy breach would be awful, but God is good, loving.
Why hide from the God Who only wants the best for us, Who wants to improve life for us.
“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalm 139:23-24)
Hiding from God is like avoiding the cancer specialist, who wants to do a thorough check up.
Be honest with God, He already knows the real you anyway.
Let Him reveal things to you about you that you don’t know, not to shame you but to help you.
Let Him show you the reason for your anxious thoughts and fears and doubts and struggles.
It’s way better than having the hidden cancer of sin and selfishness slowly ruin you from the inside.
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, I know there are things in me that are not right or good. And I know its worse than I imagine. Like David I’m praying ‘show me’, but I’m scared at the same time. Help me to trust Your diagnosis, and Your cure.
