Spirit and bible >> Jesus!

SCRIPTURE: Acts 8:26-40
“Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus.” (Acts 8:35)
This is how I prefer to read the bible, looking for clues to Jesus.
The many stories, the flow of history, songs and prophecies, laws and miracles…
These all somehow shed light on Jesus – on Who He is and why He came.
When Jesus is seen in the whole story, the pieces make more sense.
The Spirit uses the stories of the bible to reveal Jesus, and produce faith in people.
But we need to be careful to read the bible in a helpful way – looking for “who it is talking about”.
If we read it as a Law book, or a Science book, or as a Code book, we will not find Jesus.
“You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life.” (John 5:39-40)
After we read, we need to submit to Jesus again (what baptism points), and follow Him.
Today’s passage is a call for us to seek Jesus as a Person, and submit to Him as Lord.
Both the Spirit, and the bible, are nudging you to Jesus… will you kneel and receive and obey?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, today I am reminded that I need to surrender myself to You… again. Wash me, cleanse me, revive me, and send me forward with Your Spirit.
