Make it my goal?

SCRIPTURE: 2 Corinthians 5-7
“So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.” (2 Corinthians 5:9)
This is our goal, no matter what, in life or death…
Good times and bad, moments or glory or gory – may the Lord be honoured.
A desire to please the Lord shapes how we go through life or through difficulties.
Facing hardship? Tempted by unholiness? – ‘what would please the Lord’ shapes our response.
At least, it’s what you’d expect from those graciously saved and restored as His children.
Knowing my own heart and life, I realize that this is not always the case.
Maybe I temporarily forget what God has done, or how He has changed me, or how He wants me to live.
Or it is more, maybe a lukewarm or apathetic heart, or even worse, outright disobedience.
Have you made it your goal to please Him in everything you say and do?
Our motive is not (or should not be) fear, but love, gratitude, wonder, joy.
It comes from knowing HOW MUCH God has done for me, and my wanting to be all that He saved me to be!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, thank You for reminding me again that this is the greatest goal worth pursuing, and the one that will not ultimately disappoint. I want to make it my goal to please You, no matter what happens.
