Death defeated!

SCRIPTURE: Acts 2:22-28
“It was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.” (Acts 2:24)
Why was it impossible for death to keep it’s hold on Jesus?
It was not because He was God (a common misunderstanding).
Yes, God becomes humans, but while on earth Jesus of Nazareth was a man.
Death could not hold Him because it had nothing to hold on to.
The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23), the penalty for disobedience (Genesis 2:17).
Adam/Humanity has sinned, failing to be God’s faithful image-bearers.
But Jesus does not sin; He resists Satan’s lies to the point of death and breaks Satan’s hold.
“Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death — that is, the devil — and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.” (Hebrews 2:14-15)
Because of Jesus, Genesis 1 is being restored, and we are being restored with Him.
Jesus’ resurrection changes everything for the world, and for us.
God’s plan is unfolding, and death is but a gateway to life forever in God’s restored world.
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, You are alive, and that changes everything. My heart is glad, my tongue rejoices, my body rests in hope… for You have made known to me the paths of life, You will fill me with joy in your presence.
