Everyone a missionary!

SCRIPTURE: John 20:19-23
“As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” (John 20:21)
Jesus came to be like us, so that might be like Him.
We are given the Spirit, and sent on a mission, the same mission as Jesus!
We represent God again: we announce God’s good news of forgiveness.
Its not that we forgive them ourselves, but we declare God’s forgiveness.
When we live, love and lead “like God”, with the Spirit’s help, we rule for God.
Do you feel important yet, do you realize what an honour it is to be you?
We are sent, like Adam, like Abraham, like Israel, like Jesus – to be a blessing!
To be sent means we need to go somewhere (and not just oversees).
We live, love and lead “like God” at work, at school, at the mall, on the highway.
If people aren’t seeing God, it’s because people aren’t showing God.
Jesus is waiting for us to share God’s blessing… are you going?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, You have shown me how far God will go to love and help me. Help me to see in this my own calling to show others how far God will go to love and help them.

  1. Observation/Application
    Proof.
    The disciples did find strength and encouragement together but were fearful of the Jewish leaders and weak in their faith. Jesus came and showed Himself. Happiness is being with the risen Lord.
    And He gave them an assignment – proclaim the Good News. I will equip you with the Spirit to do the work you are created to do. As Jesus served and was equipped so too, He equips us to do the same – to go out an tell the Story wherever we are placed. He called His disciples and since we are that, we are called to do the same as His followers.

    1 I love to tell the story
    Of unseen things above,
    Of Jesus and His glory,
    Of Jesus and his love.
    I love to tell the story,
    Because I know its true;
    It satisfies my longings
    As nothing else would do.
    I love to tell the story,
    ‘Twill be my theme in glory
    To tell the old, old story
    Of Jesus and His love.

    2 I love to tell the story;
    More wonderful it seems
    Than all the golden fancies
    Of all our golden dreams.
    I love to tell the story,
    It did so much for me;
    And that is just the reason
    I tell it now to thee.
    I love to tell the story,
    ‘Twill be my theme in glory
    To tell the old, old story
    Of Jesus and His love.

    3 I love to tell the story;
    ‘Tis pleasant to repeat
    What seems, each time I tell it,
    More wonderfully sweet.
    I love to tell the story,
    For some have never heard
    The message of salvation
    From God’s own holy word.
    I love to tell the story,
    ‘Twill be my theme in glory
    To tell the old, old story
    Of Jesus and His love.

    4 I love to tell the story;
    For those who know it best
    Seem hungering and thirsting
    To hear it, like the rest,
    And when, in scenes of glory,
    I sing the new, new song,
    ‘Twill be the old, old story,
    That I have loved so long.
    I love to tell the story,
    ‘Twill be my theme in glory
    To tell the old, old story
    Of Jesus and His love.
