Our hope for life after death

SCRIPTURE: John 8:21-30
“If you do not believe that I am he, you will indeed die in your sins.” (John 8:24)
Jesus is speaking in bold terms about Himself.
By calling Himself the ‘son of man’, claiming to be God’s promised Saviour:
“In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.” (Daniel 7:13-14)
Coming from above, going to His throne, rescuing all people from death and destruction.
But if Jesus is God’s only plan of salvation, what happens to those who reject Him?
If we’re drowning, and we reject the only life preserver thrown to us, what happens?
I personally believe that God’s mercy will last right up until the very last moment.
But I also believe that in the end, those who refuse God’s help will remain in their sins.
The as God said in the beginning, the consequence of sin is death.
Death is the problem we all face, and so far we have not been able to beat it.
Jesus is God’s solution to the problem of sin and death.
It doesn’t take super faith or goodness to be saved.
But it does require giving in to His help, and letting Him help us.
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, I cannot go where You have gone (life after death) unless You help me. Thank You for beating death, and restoring the hope of life!

  1. Observation/Application
    Remember Moses? The serpent? All those who looked up at the cross received healing and life. That is also true this day. All those who accept Christ Jesus as their Saviour, dying on the cross will be lifted up with Him to true life. Without the cross there is nothing but death. In the cross, sins are forgiven and life everlasting will happen for Christ Jesus, the risen Saviour has died in my place. I need to keep my eyes upon Him always.

    1
    O soul, are you weary and troubled?
    No light in the darkness you see?
    There’s light for a look at the Savior,
    And life more abundant and free.
    Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
    Look full in His wonderful face,
    And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
    In the light of His glory and grace.
    2
    Through death into life everlasting
    He passed, and we follow Him there;
    O’er us sin no more hath dominion
    For more than conqu’rors we are!
    3
    His Word shall not fail you, He promised;
    Believe Him and all will be well;
    Then go to a world that is dying,
    His perfect salvation to tell!
