SCRIPTURE: John 4:16-26
“For salvation is from the Jews.” (John 4:22)
If God is for all races, cultures and religions, why does God pick the Jews.
Salvation is FROM the Jews, not FOR the Jews.
God starts Abraham’s family, but His goal was always to bless the world (Genesis 12:2-3)
“Yet a time is coming and has now come…” (John 4:23)
Jesus is announcing a time when the Jewish temple will not be God’s starting point.
The time is coming when all people can approach God in sincerity of heart, through Jesus.
The Jews were supposed to be a ‘house of prayer for all nations’ (Mark 11:17)
Where all broken, needy, sincere, desperate seekers could come and find living water.
Jesus is the key to this new reality, this time that has now come.
Jesus does not belong to Jews, nor to Christians; He belongs to God and to the world.
He makes it possible for all people to approach God in spirit and in truth.
I can come just as I am, with a sincere (truth) heart (spirit), even if my life is messed.
This woman, with all her baggage, was welcome; so are you, so am I.
“Come, all you who are thirsty, come to (Jesus) the (living) water” (Isaiah 55:1)
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, thank You for connecting me to God. God, I worship You, I need You, I come to You just as I am. Spirit of God, satisfy my soul with living water!
Observation/Application
Jesus knows.
Jesus knows also our actions.
Jesus also knows me.
And
I know Him.
The Words shows here that all may worship Him.
Where?
Everywhere.
Jerusalem was not the centre for worship but the worshipping of the Father is.
Where?
Everywhere.
And all that is a possibility through the Saviour, Jesus Christ.
He is everywhere.
Jesus shall reign where’er the sun
Does his successive journeys run;
His kingdom stretch from shore to shore,
Till moons shall wax and wane no more.
To Him shall endless prayer be made,
And praises throng to crown His head;
His Name like sweet perfume shall rise
With every morning sacrifice.
People and realms of every tongue
Dwell on His love with sweetest song;
And infant voices shall proclaim
Their early blessings on His Name.
The saints shall flourish in His days,
Dressed in the robes of joy and praise;
Peace, like a river, from His throne
Shall flow to nations yet unknown.
