Telling yourself to focus on God!

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 103
When I am discouraged, overwhelmed, scared, or troubled, what should I do?
In moments like these, tell yourself to focus on God.
In this Psalm David is engaging in ‘self-talk’, telling his soul (innermost being) to praise God.
He then reviews all the great things about God, all the reasons why there is still hope.
God is great, His love and mercy are great, His purpose and kingdom are great.
Everything about God is great, nothing and no one can overtake Him.
Too often we focus on the greatness of our problems or struggles.
We worship our problems – really we do – when we focus on their greatness.
No matter what happens, no matter what we face, no matter how bad things look, God is superior.
This does not guarantee an easy life, but it does assure us that we will overcome in the end.
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:37-39)
Have you like David, like Paul, convinced your soul that nothing is stronger or greater than God?
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, there are no guarantees that this life will be easy, or how I want it to be. But there is one guarantee I can count on – NOTHING can separate me from You and Your love!
