SCRIPTURE: Psalm 100
Whenever we focus on God, joy, praise and thanksgiving should burst out.
Going to temple (for Jews), gathering with other Jesus-followers, are times to focus on God together.
We reflect on Who He is (He is God, He made us, we belong to Him, He rules and cares for us!)
We reflect on How He is (He is good and loving and faithful).
But you don’t have to be in a public worship gathering to do this.
We can focus on God (Who and How He is), and erupt in joy, praise and thanksgiving.
In fact, we should – this Psalm commands us to do so!
But who needs a command when we genuinely appreciate God and His greatness and goodness!
Spend some time today focusing on all that God is and all that God does.
Spend some time today expressing your joy, praise and thanksgiving.
Spend some time today SHOUTING (alone or with others) Your appreciation for God!
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, there are so many reasons to shout. We shout for sports games, we shout for concerts, we shout for parties… but do we shout for You?
Observation/Application
A fitting Psalm for today as I prepare to go to His house of worship where we sing songs of praise. The Psalmist tells us not just to sing, but also shout out His praise. Here is a challenge for God’s people to raise ‘songs’ of praise from their hearts to God.
We are also reminded that God is our God and we/I am part of His people/sheep/flock and He will take care of me for that is what a shepherd does. Upon entering the gates or ‘sheepfold’ – – – safe and secure . . . sing praises and give thanks. He is there for His people – faithfulness throughout the generations. I cab count on Him always and forevermore.
So once again I end this devotion with a song upon my heart and sing throughout the day how great He is.
The splendor of a King, clothed in majesty
Let all the earth rejoice
All the earth rejoice
He wraps himself in Light, and darkness tries to hide
And trembles at His voice
Trembles at His voice
How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God
Age to age He stands
And time is in His hands
Beginning and the end
Beginning and the end
The Godhead Three in One
Father Spirit Son
The Lion and the Lamb
The Lion and the Lamb
Name above all names
Worthy of our praise
My heart will sing
How great is our God
How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God
