If only we really knew… Jesus!

SCRIPTURE: Luke 19:28-40
Two days ago we read Psalm 96, which talked about the creation rejoicing in God’s greatness.
Here Jesus says that the stones on the road are crying out in praise.
If we really knew Who God was, we would sing, sing, sing with praise.
The same is true for Jesus, as He enters Jerusalem… if only they knew Who He was.
In the next verses Jesus will say “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes.” (Luke 19:42)
If only we really knew Who Jesus is, and how much we depend on Him.
If we had a glimpse of His glory, His awesome greatness, we would tremble in fear.
But then we would see Him on a donkey, humble and gentle and loving and good!
We would see Him on the cross, suffering and dying because of His great love!
And tasting the goodness of this incomprehensibly GREAT Lord, we would sing, sing, sing!
“Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
No rebuke could stop us!
We would join in with the creation itself, which cannot help itself but sing!
If only we really knew…
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, the greatness of God is hidden from many. You greatness is hidden from many also. Open our eyes, give us a glimpse of God and You, and set our mouths free to sing in praise!

    Christ is King indeed!
    Those sent went about doing what they were told. All for Jesus. Doing His commands – willingly – for their Master. And I must also relinquish my control and let Lord be in charge, even when I may not understand the marching orders. Just do His will.
    Serving the King. Preparing the way for the King. Praising the King . . . .
    for all what He has done – the miracles they had seen. Open my eyes Lord that I too may see daily the works of Your hands. Help me daily to give You praises for You are Lord of the Creation and I – Your humble servant.
    The religious leaders did not like what they saw – their pride got in their way. Christ received the glory humbly and He knew what was yet to happen to claim that kingship. No greater love . . . for His people.
    Help me this day Lord to praise You in all I do and say as I continue to live for Jesus.

    Praise the Savior now and ever;
    Praise Him, all beneath the skies;
    Prostrate lying, suff’ring, dying
    On the cross, a sacrifice.
    Vict’ry gaining, life obtaining,
    Now in glory He doth rise.

    Man’s work faileth, Christ’s availeth;
    He is all our righteousness;
    He, our Savior, has forever
    Set us free from dire distress.
    Through His merit we inherit
    Light and peace and happiness.

    Sin’s bonds severed, we’re delivered,
    Christ has bruised the serpent’s head;
    Death no longer is the stronger,
    Hell itself is captive led.
    Christ has risen from death’s prison,
    O’er the tomb He light has shed.

    For His favor, praise forever,
    Unto God the Father sing;
    Praise the Savior, praise Him ever,
    Son of God, our Lord and King.
    Praise the Spirit, through Christ’s merit,
    He doth us salvation bring.
