Do I love money more than God?

SCRIPTURE: Luke 16:10-15
Jesus continues explaining His parable from Luke 16:1-9.
God gives us His blessings to show that we can be trusted (or not).
If we are not good stewards with His temporal blessings, why would He give us more?
Jesus then points out that worldly hearts love their gifts more than the Giver.
He is very challenging when it comes to money and possessions.
Do we deny it, do we think that what He says does not apply to us?
Is this what it means to justify ourselves in the eyes of others – we don’t have a money problem!
But God knows my heart, He sees how I live, what i prioritize and value, where my real treasure is.
God made us to be generous, eager to share and care, devoted to Him and to people.
Our hearts have been distorted from this, and are now absorbed in self-fulfillment.
If we are honest, we will discover that our hearts are more clingy than we realize.
If we are honest, we will realize that we are not being faithful with what God has entrusted us.
What do you sense the Lord saying to you?
PRAYER
Lord, this is a radical challenge, one that is beyond my ability to change. I need Your forgiveness and I need Your help. I need Your Spirit to show me my greed, and to help me overcome it!

    A house divided can not stand.
    Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind.
    Singleness.

    Heart commitment.
    The pharisees were also called white sepulchres – a ‘veneer’ over the real thing. The outside didn’t match the inside and it is what is on the inside that counts. God sees the heart of the matter.
    Heart commitment.
    God’s servant.
    Doing the will of the Father.
    All for Jesus.
    Lord help me this day to live in Your Way in all I do and say.

    All for Jesus, all for Jesus!
    All my being’s ransomed powers:
    All my thoughts and words and doings,
    All my days and all my hours.
    Refrain

    All for Jesus! All for Jesus!
    All my days and all my hours;
    All for Jesus! All for Jesus!
    All my days and all my hours.

    Let my hands perform His bidding,
    Let my feet run in His ways;
    Let my eyes see Jesus only,
    Let my lips speak forth His praise.

    Refrain

    Worldlings prize their gems of beauty,
    Cling to gilded toys of dust,
    Boast of wealth and fame and pleasure;
    Only Jesus will I trust.

    Refrain

    Since my eyes were fixed on Jesus,
    I’ve lost sight of all beside;
    So enchained my spirit’s vision,
    Looking at the Crucified.

    Refrain

    Oh, what wonder! how amazing!
    Jesus, glorious King of kings,
    Deigns to call me His belovèd,
    Lets me rest beneath His wings.
