And they all waddled home!?

So sad, so true…
There was a little town of Ducks. Every Sunday the ducks waddle out of their houses and waddle down Main Street to their church. They waddle into the sanctuary and squat in their proper pews. The duck choir waddles in and takes it place, then the duck minister comes forward and opens the duck Bible (Ducks, like all other creatures on earth, seem to have their own special version of the Scriptures.) He reads to them: “Ducks! God has given you wings! With wings you can fly! With wings you can mount up and soar like eagles. No walls can confine you! No fences can hold you! You have wings. God has given you wings and you can fly like birds!” All the ducks shouted “Amen!” And they all waddled home. (Soren Kierkegaard)

  1. Thank you Karen. Interesting that I did not think about it from the duck’s point of view, but the pastor duck (why might that be?). And I saw it more negatively – they attend but don’t fly – instead of positively – they attend, and get a little bit closer to wanting to!!!! I needed this perspective adjustment. May we all hear the Duck Creator quacking (speaking) in our hearts, through our duck bibles!

  2. Yikes! Maybe they don’t want to fly. But maybe want to want to fly …. So every week that they attend maybe they get a little bit closer to wanting to. And then maybe they will start reading their duck bibles at home instead of letting the pastor do it for them 🙂
